Nigerian student, Kevin Lakoju allegedly commits suicide in India

According to The Times of India, a 28-year-old Nigerian student allegedly committed suicide after jumping off the second floor of his rented accommodation in Sector 41. Police said preliminary probe suggests that the deceased, Kelvin Lakoju, aka 'Biggie' was in depression.

Kelvin had been living in Noida since 2009 and was pursuing a photography course from an institute in Film City. Cops said he jumped off around 11pm on Wednesday January 2nd.

"We have questioned some people and came to know that he was upset for some reasons," said deputy SP, S Chinappa.

"His friends said Kelvin was good at studies. Some personal problem could be the reason for committing suicide," said a senior police officer.

Some sources do however allege that Kevin was pushed, others say he was killed then pushed. The Nigerian Embassy and the deceased's family have been informed about the incident. It is hoped that Nigerian authorities in India will do some investigation into the alleged suicide, and hopefully corroborate the suicide story, if indeed it was a suicide.

Photographer killed while taking shot of Justin Bieber’s Car

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police say a paparazzo was hit by a car and killed after taking photos of Justin Bieber’s white Ferrari on a Los Angeles street.

Los Angeles police Officer James Stoughton says the photographer, who was not identified, died at a hospital shortly after the crash Tuesday evening. Stoughton says Bieber was not in the Ferrari at the time.

The sports car was parked on the side of Sepulveda Boulevard near Getty Center Drive after a traffic stop. The photographer was struck as he walked across the boulevard after taking pictures.

Stoughton says no charges are expected to be filed against the motorist who hit the man.

A call to a spokesperson for the singer was not immediately returned Tuesday night.

Man Impregnates Daughter After His Wife Died

A 21-year-old woman was allegedly impregnated by her father and is now in dilemma over the custody of the baby.

The tormented woman, Patience Dube, told a weekly newspaper that when she looks at her 2-year-old baby, it reminds her of sad memories of her intimacy with the man whom she looked up to as her father.

"This man (step father) has ruined my life. I wish to finish school but it's almost impossible. He has brought shame to my life. I feel like dying. I don't want to set my eyes on him anymore. I can't look at him in the face. I wish the Government would come and take this baby," said the visibly tramautised woman.

A university dropout, Patience recounted how her step-father started sleeping with her since December 2009 after the death of her mother and resulted in the pregnancy. She WILLINGLY agreed to have her identity revealed and appealed for assistance to finish her degree programme in English and African languages.

Ironically, she says her father, severely thumped her a few years ago after a local village herd boy went about spreading rumours that she had been deflowered by a school teacher. The man did not take long before wanting to taste that which he believed a school teacher had deflowered.

"I remember he beat me over a rumour but less than three years later, he started crawling into my blankets. This, he did after the death of my mother in December 2009. He would come for me every time just after I had finished menstruating. I warned him that he was going to get me pregnant but he would not listen," she said.

Ivory Coast's president declared three days of national mourning and promised a speedy investigation into the New Year's Day stampede that killed 60 people, most of them women and children.

Nelson Mandela discharged from hospital

After almost three weeks in the hospital, former South African president, Nelson Mandela was discharged today Wednesday December 26th. The 94 year old was admitted to the hospital on Saturday December 8th to receive treatment for a lung infection and surgery to remove gallstones, which the doctors say was successful.
